#KARL URBAN THOR MOVIE#
It's a breath of fresh air to find a man who outwardly discusses the women being necessary to make a superhero movie complete. I love, love, love knowing how much he appreciates and respects women in film. I read that script and saw that ninety percent of my material was with her, I'm like where do I sign up? How much do I pay you? I mean to be perfectly honest, she was the reason I decided to do this movie, it was the opportunity to work with Cate Blanchett. I also had such such a a a wonderful time working with Cate Blanchett. I thought it was a a strong compelling journey. Shortly before The Boys became a powerhouse hit for Amazon, Billy Butcher himself, Karl Urban, continued his streak as a yeoman genre actor by appearing as Skurge in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. I love the journey of her character from the dark place that she was in, to redemption, to reclaiming herself with her identity. They are my favorite parts of the movie and I love seeing, Tessa’s swagger. Cate and Tessa are so wonderful in this film. I think it would have been a boring movie without them. Until then, we’ll be counting down the days until Thor: Ragnarok lands in theaters on November 3rd.Marvel Studios' THOR: RAGNAROK.L to R: Skurge (Karl Urban) and Hela (Cate Blanchett).Ph: Film Frame.©Marvel Studios 2017 The importance of powerful womenĪs if Karl Urban wasn't impressive enough, he won me over 100% when he talked about the powerful women in Thor: Ragnarok. Kiwi actor Karl Urban will join the cast in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok as Skurge alongside Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum and Tessa Thompson among others. So like, we’re ready for a Hela (and Valkyrie!) spinoff whenever Marvel wants to make that happen. Both of them have a wonderful swagger, they’re both strong, independent individuals, and I think that they just simply made the film better.” Urban said of both, “There is great strength in both of their characters. “It seemed like the most un-work work environment that I’ve ever experienced.”Īs for Blanchett’s character, Hela is Marvel’s first female villain and she’s as badass as they come - and Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie is equally kickass. And added that it was also a pleasure to work with Waititi, who kept a very fluid and creative set, with music constantly playing. Marvel productions tend to bring out bromances ( Science Bros, anyone?), and Urban explained that Thor: Ragnarok was no exception. * You read that right, CATE BLANCHETT BROS OUT * Literally, every time I’d see her for the entire six weeks we were shooting, she was in that character, in that mode.” But that doesn’t mean that Urban and Blanchett didn’t bro out in between takes. “I must say, it was wonderful to finally see her with blonde hair, as she had this black wig on the entire time. That said, he did welcome a, um, return to her brighter look by production’s end.

I wasn’t intimidated at all,” he explained. However, when Taika Waititi decided to include Skurge in 'Thor: Ragnarok,' the filmmaker did what he does best: He gave the character a goofy but endearing charm. But for Urban, it was quite the contrary. This may have passed you by, but believe it or not, it was also reported at one time that The Boys star Karl Urban had been tapped to replace Pascal as Din Djarin in the Disney+ series.

I mean, even Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, basically said as much.
